Ijaw Women Celebrated for Promoting Culture and Identity Across the World on International Women’s Day

By Delta Event TV

As the world marks International Women’s Day, tributes have been paid to Ijaw women across the globe for their efforts in promoting and preserving the rich cultural identity of the Ijaw people.

In a goodwill message, Joseph Evah, Coordinator of the Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG), saluted Ijaw women for their commitment to the promotion of Ijaw identity and cultural heritage both at home and in the diaspora.

According to him, Ijaw women living abroad have continued to mobilize themselves into associations and cultural groups in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, India, Canada, Germany, and China, where they actively promote the culture, traditions, and identity of the Ijaw people.

He noted that the efforts of Ijaw women abroad are similar to those of other Nigerian ethnic women groups in the diaspora, including Yoruba, Igbo, Edo, Idoma, Tiv, and Hausa women, who also organize themselves to preserve and promote their cultural heritage globally.

Within Nigeria, Evah also commended members of the National Association of Ijaw Female Students (NAIFS) and their Alumnae body for their role in promoting Ijaw identity and cultural values in tertiary institutions across the country.

He described NAIFS as a strong platform that continues to inspire young Ijaw women to embrace education, leadership, and pride in their cultural heritage.

Evah therefore congratulated Ijaw women and women across the world for their resilience, unity, and contributions to the growth of society, praying for continued strength and success for what he described as “the pride of our heritage.”

Happy International Women’s Day to women across the globe. 🌍👩🏾‍🦱✨

Signed

Comrade Joseph Evah

Coordinator IMG.
