INC 2026 CONVENTION: Delegates Gather in Yenagoa as Activities Begin Today Ahead of Election Tomorrow


The stage is set in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, as delegates and stakeholders of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) converge for the 2026 National Convention and Election scheduled to hold at Ijaw House.


The two-day event will feature the non-elective national convention, manifesto presentations by candidates, and the election of new national executives to lead the apex socio-cultural organization of the Ijaw people.







Activities for Friday, March 6, 2026


Proceedings begin in the morning with the arrival and accreditation of delegates from various Ijaw clans and chapters across Nigeria and the diaspora.


9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Arrival and accreditation of delegates at Ijaw House.


12:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Stakeholder engagements, consultations, and media interactions.


2:00 PM – 3:30 PM: Seating of delegates and invited guests ahead of the main session.


4:00 PM: Official opening of the Non-Elective National Convention.


4:30 PM – 7:00 PM: Manifesto presentations by cleared aspirants contesting various national positions in the INC, followed by interactive sessions with delegates.



The manifesto session will allow candidates to present their vision and policy direction for the advancement of the Ijaw Nation.


Election Activities for Saturday, March 7, 2026


The main election to choose new leaders of the Ijaw National Congress will take place on Saturday.


8:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Final accreditation of delegates.


10:00 AM: Commencement of voting by accredited delegates.


2:00 PM: Collation of votes by the Electoral Committee.


4:00 PM: Announcement of election results and presentation of winners.



The outcome of the election is expected to usher in a new leadership team that will steer the affairs of the INC and continue to advocate for the development, unity, and rights of the Ijaw people.


Delegates, observers, and members of the Ijaw Nation from across the world are closely following the historic convention taking place in Yenagoa.
