Egbema Lawyer Called on the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki to Salvage Gbeoba Boat Casualties.

Egbema Lawyer called on the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki to salvage Gbeoba boat casualties.

A Benin based legal Practitioner from Delta origin Barr. Ejemi Divine Ebiterigha, the Spokesman of Egbema Youth Political Forum (EGYPF)has called on the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki to come to the rescue of their Ijaw brothers and sisters, and some of their Urhobo tenants whose boat got capsized on thursday morning 19th October, 2023 at Gelegele river where throng of people got drowned in the river.

Acording to a reliable information, the people were coming from Gbeoba Community in  Egbema kingdom of Ovia South West LGA, to Ekenwan market in Olodiama kingdom of Ovia North East LGA Edo State.

As they arrived at Gelegele Community they had to branch in order for the driver to buy fuel as he was falling short of fuel.

Having bought the fuel, they moved out wanting to advance further to ekenwan market, but the engine failed to on as the driver tried to start it while the boat adrifts to the direction of a wrongly lapsed DUBRI OIL COMPANY LIMITED crude oil barge aided by the speedy tide of the water where the boat got capsized having  smashed the company's oil barge. 

Information had it that many feared dead instantly, while innumerable number of people are missing both adults, children and properties worth millions of naira.

It's a dark day in Egbema kingdom in Edo state.

In a related development, a woman from the above Community (Gbeoba Community) Mrs. Rita Ayedi Ojukwu who is resident in Benin City received the shocking ugly news got fainted and died.

The remains of the body already deposited at God'scare morgue.

The legal Practitioner while narrating the ordeal stating that the government should use this medium to proffer life safety jackets and other safety measures for people living at the coastal fringe of the State in order to avert future adventure.

He also called on the State Government to wade swiftly into  the Company's act of dereliction and bring them to justice.

Therefore, I'm appealing to His Excellency, our amiable wake and see Governor, to please send a rescue team to salvage the casualties and the sunken boat from total wreckage.
