ADDRESS THE  MARGINALIZATION OF THE ITSEKIRI, IJAW AND ILAJE ETHNIC NATIONALITY OR FACE TOTAL SHUTDOWN

By Delta Event News

The Itsekiri, Ijaw and Ilaje graduates also known as 3Is graduates is calling on Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) to address the issue of marginalization of Itsekiri, Ijaw and Ilaje ethnic nationality who are Host to their facilities and operations in Warri, Delta State.

Rising from a meeting held on Wednesday 25th April 2024, the  graduate bodies have decided to shut down the operations of Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) if the marginalization, oppression and discrimination is not addressed within 21 days.

Let it be on record that we have written letters and Chevron Nigeria Limited in their usual way have ignored the letters.

OUR DEMANDS ARE;

1. A stop to CNL secret employments.

2. 70% of all CNL employments.

3. Conversion of all Host Community contract employees, including VTP 5 and VTP 6 to CNL regular staff.

4. Reinstatement of Comrade (Engr.) Timmy Okeoghene Okirika, who was terminated by CNL in breach of the RDCs GMoU, PENGASSAN CBA, Labour Act, ILO Conventions, and the National Assembly and Federal Ministry of Labour resolutions and orders.

5. Regularization of individuasl who have consistently participated in the OMR, Pitstop projects and Turnaround maintenance operations

6. Drilling Contracts tender and bidding opportunities for Host Community contractors and/or Host Community contractors right of first refusal in the award of drilling contracts, well head maintenance,  production, and procurement contracts etc.

As stated in our letters and publications, the ongoing Chevron Nigeria Limited secret employment contravenes the Loal Content Act and the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Content Act and should be stopped and declared null and void, and 70% of all CNL job slot should be reserved for Itsekiri, Ijaw and Ilaje Graduates as Host Communities to CNL facilities and operations, which will be competed for through extant recruitment process as we do not want to be employed just with slots, but through due process.

Conclusively, we are by this issuing CNL a Twenty-One (21) day ultimatum to call for a round table meeting to discuss these demands or face the wrath of Itsekiri, Ijaw and Ilaje Graduates  Worldwide.
