ATTACKING A CALL FOR PEACEFUL RESOLUTION BY THE ACTING NATIONAL SECRETARY IYC WORLDWIDE IS DISRESPECTFUL, BASELESS AND VIOLENT INCITING. — A PUBLIC APOLOGY IS DEMANDED

PRESS RELEASE

Date: October 17, 2025

I Hon. Maiku ThankGod Duinbaikiyo the Chief Whip of Egbema Youth Council 3rd Mobile Parliament attention has been drawn to publication issued on the 15th of October, 2025, by Comr. John Okiriji, the Youth President of Adoloseimo No. 2 Community, attacking the peace resolution message issued by the Acting National  Secretary of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) worldwide Amb. Egelu Edise-emi Bright

We consider such publication barbaric, disrespectful, baseless, and clearly inciting violence. It reflects a lack of direction and decorum expected of any youth leadership structure within the two Kingdoms involved in the crisis.

The message issued by the IYC Acting National Secretary WorldWide was purely a call for peace and unity between the communities involved in the recent crisis. It was a balanced and well-intentioned statement aimed at restoring normalcy and preventing further loss of lives and property.

It is therefore disheartening and appalling to see anyone trying to misrepresent or tarnish the image of the Acting National Secretary  of Council Worldwide  by describing his message as “one-sided” or “biased.” As a son of both Egbema and Arogbo Kingdom, he has consistently chosen neutrality — guided by his position and the principle of peace.

It is recalled that, , 27th September, 2024, during the period of Arogbon day celebration,  your uncle and one other man from Kokotoru machete themselves and when both came to Arogbo Police post to report themselves,  one was detained and the other was in the clinic for treatment because of the degree of injury sustained,  the Acting National Secretary IYC WorldWide. Amb Egelu Edise-emi Bright visited both the clinic, and the police post spoke with both the  DPO of  Arogbo Police post  and Koko division to broker peace for the release and treatment of both your uncle and the other man, and they were both treated and later released.

Anyone misinterpreting his peace message clearly suffers from a narrow understanding of the issue at hand. We advise such individuals to revisit the statement carefully or seek clarification before making reckless comments that may cause further tension.

As peace-loving people, we strongly condemn the tragic incident that claimed the lives of two individuals from Adoloseimo No. 2. The Acting National Secretary of Council Worldwide has equally condemned the act and remains committed to ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.

It is important to recall that in the past, the same group of youths from Adoloseimo No. 2 issued a provocative statement that eventually led to the killing of an innocent man by   security agency on patrol, a young man who had no knowledge of the ongoing tension Today, this same group has once again released another baseless and inciting publication, attacking a peace-driven message from the IYC leadership — a move that is both unfortunate and unacceptable.

On this note, we demand an unreserved public apology from the Youth President and the leadership of Adoloseimo No. 2 Community to the Acting National Secretary of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) worldwide. It is the right and honorable thing to do.

Finally, we wish to state unequivocally that the continued visionless and provocative behavior of some youths from Adoloseimo No. 2 is a clear reflection of their habitual tendency to create conflict where peace exists. This attitude is consistent with past encroachments on Ikokotoru land and repeated acts of provocation.

For the record, we remain peace-loving people. Even when one of the criminal elements terrorizing the area was apprehended, we handed him over to the Koko Divisional Police Station, Delta State, in line with our commitment to due process and justice.

Peace remains our priority, and we shall continue to uphold it — regardless of provocation.

Signed,

Hon. Maiku ThankGod Duinbaikiyo

Chief Whip, EYC 3rd Mobile Parliament.
