The family of the late Pere Charles Ayemi Botu has issued a message of appreciation to individuals and organizations that supported them since the monarch’s passing two years ago.
Prince Churchill Tebeowei Botu, speaking on behalf of the royal family, said the affection and solidarity shown by the public have been uplifting. He thanked the Delta and Bayelsa State Governments, prominent Ijaw leaders, traditional councils, the Burutu political class and many others.
He described the late king—popularly known as “The Lion of the Niger”—as a leader whose legacy remains deeply rooted in the kingdom.

Appreciation Message
On behalf of the royal family of Seimbiri Kingdom, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has stood by us in the past two years since the passing of our beloved father, His Majesty, Pere Charles Ayemi Botu (JP)OFR the Paramount Ruler of Seimbiri Kingdom, fondly known as “The Lion of the Niger.” His legacy, leadership, and unwavering courage continue to live on in our hearts and in the hearts of all who loved and respected him.
This journey has not been easy, but God has strengthened us through the love, support, and kindness of remarkable individuals—those who walked with us, encouraged us, and stood beside our family in honouring the memory of our king.
