NIGER DELTA YOUTH ASSEMBLY CALLS FOR PEACE AND UNITY IN BOMADI LOCAL GOVERNMENT

10th /01/2026

The National Leader of the Niger Delta Youth Assembly (NDYA), Hon. Meshach Ogbona, has called for calm, peace, and unity following recent political developments in Bomadi Local Government, Delta State.

In a statement issued on Monday, Hon. Ogbona expressed deep concern over the impeachment notice reportedly served on the Chairman of Bomadi Local Government over allegations of misconduct and financial misdemeanour.

He urged all relevant stakeholders—including the Delta State Government, political leaders, traditional rulers, and residents of Bomadi—to intervene constructively and ensure the matter is resolved peacefully.

> “The recent progress witnessed in Bomadi Local Government, especially in infrastructure, healthcare, and education, clearly shows the enormous potential of our people,” Ogbona stated.

“It is therefore important that sustainable peace and unity are prioritised in order to maintain and build upon these developmental gains.”

The youth leader further called on councillors, traditional leaders, and community influencers within the local government to set aside personal interests and work collectively in the interest of the people.

> “Let us put the people first and address this issue with calmness and understanding. Peace remains the foundation of development, and I appeal to everyone involved to keep their ego aside and work towards a peaceful resolution,” he added.

Hon. Ogbona also appealed to the Delta State Government to ensure that due process is strictly followed and that justice prevails, stressing that the people of Bomadi deserve transparency and accountability in governance.

> “As youths, we are watching closely, and we expect better from our leaders. We will not support any action that undermines the peace and progress of our community,” he warned.

He concluded by calling for collective responsibility in building a prosperous local government:

> “Let us work together to build a better Bomadi—one where peace reigns, development thrives, and every citizen has access to basic amenities and opportunities.”
