A Call to Action: Niger Delta Youths Rise Against Failed Leadership
Abuja, Nigeria — The Niger Delta Youth Assembly (NLNDYA) has issued a strong call to action, urging the people of the Niger Delta region to reject the failed leadership that has held the region hostage for far too long.
In a statement signed by Hon. Meshach Bigstar Ogbona, National Leader of the NLNDYA, the organization reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to sustainable development, accountability, and good governance across the Niger Delta.
> “The facts are clear: our region is blessed with abundant natural resources, yet our people remain poor and marginalized,” the statement read.
“We are confronted with decaying infrastructure, poor healthcare systems, and inadequate access to quality education. This situation is unacceptable.”
Hon. Ogbona strongly condemned the actions of certain Ijaw political office holders whom he accused of misleading and betraying the people.
> “Our leaders have become our greatest problem. They have turned themselves into enemies of the people. We will not give them another chance in 2027,” he declared.
The NLNDYA emphasized that leadership must be about service, not self-interest, and called on those in power to prioritize projects that promote sustainable development, create jobs, and stimulate long-term economic growth within Niger Delta communities.
OUR DEMANDS
The Niger Delta Youth Assembly demands the following:
Sustainable development that benefits all communities
Good governance that prioritizes the well-being of the people
Accountability and transparency from political leaders
An end to corruption and the mismanagement of public resources
Empowerment of youths and women across the Niger Delta
The Assembly urged Niger Delta youths to rise and demand better governance, stressing that silence is no longer an option.
> “The time for excuses is over. It is time for action. The people are watching, and we will not be ignored,” the statement added.
The statement concluded with a firm resolve:
> “We will not be silenced. We will not be intimidated. We will continue to speak truth to power and hold our leaders accountable.”
Join us in the fight for a better Niger Delta.
Signed:
Hon. Meshach Bigstar Ogbona
